Wholesale Bird Cages – How To Snag a Deal

Buying wholesale bird cages does not necessarily mean that an 18 wheeler will pull up to your house, dropping off a pallet of cages.

Buying your bird cage at a wholesale price is not impossible, but will take some work, primarily on the Internet. First, determine the size of the bird cage you need. Next go to the Internet and begin to search for “bird cage manufacturers” or “wholesale bird cages”. You might also search for liquidators who might have bird cages on hand.

For right now, don’t bother with retailers on the Internet, although you may want to check their prices for comparison purposes.

When you find a wholesaler, go the section of their website for “contact us” or “wholesale information”. There you can ask questions about minimum purchase amounts and terms. Some wholesalers are not set up to take orders over the Internet, so you may have to fax your order to them.

Who buys wholesale?

Someone who’s looking for perhaps one or two cages. A wholesaler may have single bird cages that were returned for one reason or another that they are willing to sell at a deeply discounted price.

A decorator working on a theme party where bird cages are the centerpiece. It may be far cheaper to buy a few more cages than you need, rather than actually pay retail for only the ones you can use.

A small pet store owner, buying directly from the wholesaler may prove to be more economical that purchasing the cages through a distributor. If that’s the case, then make sure you are purchasing a mix of sizes to put into your inventory.

What if you have to buy more than you need?

This is where you are going to have to sharpen your pencil and bring out your calculator. If you’re an individual and it costs the same to buy six bird cages at wholesale or two at retail, you might want to consider doing that and taking the extra four and putting them into a garage sale or selling them on eBay. After all, anything you made on them would be a profit.

If you’re a party planner or decorator who ended up with extra bird cages, you could consider making one into a permanent centerpiece sample. If you don’t have time to sell any extras on eBay, there’s always the local charity thrift store for a tax deductible contribution.

Whatever number of bird cages you need, don’t simply write off contacting wholesales because they’ll want to sell you more than you need. You never know until you ask and there’s nothing sweeter than buying at wholesale.
